Recorded in Afghanistan. Made for Kirsten. Thanks for the inspiration. I hope that anyone that hears this mix gets a view into my mind. I have been so awed lately by the music the Cut Copy, Crystal
Castles, and the others on here have been putting out. I live in a war and yet think only of peace. Enjoy your freedom and running water civilized world. I took the picture at the Maxx in Omaha

(in a Blackhawk helicopter) I calculated that the cold wind was hitting us at about 100 miles per hour. There is no way to close those doors. The gunners looked warm, but they are accustomed to
cruising above the Hindu Kush at these speeds with the snow just 50 feet below us and the peaks on both sides of our all black bird passing 18000 feet above sea level. I listened to the MSTRKRFT
album the whole way and kept bouncing to the beat to keep my blood flowing. I was focused mostly on my clogged sinuses and the pain that they were causing my skull with each change in elevation until
I heard the "rat, tat, tat ta tat" of the .762 from the door gunner on my left. The muzzle flashes woke up my every animal instinct I could almost feel the blood surging to my muscles, preparing them
for action. I forgot about my cold and started to think about how long it would take me to switch off the safety of my M4 with gloves on. My senses were fully aware and I was ready for anything. I
looked over at my handler and realized that the blast had jarred him from his mid-flight nap. He flashed his teeth in my direction and I interpreted the gesture to mean that he was ready for an
adventure in the snow globe. They didn't get us. We felt the mechanical beast shake as the rotors lifted us out of the valley and over the last peak before civilization. I looked down and couldn't
comprehend the neon signs of a Western style gas station in the middle of such a vast spread of mud and buckwheat homes. One flash of light in a sea of dirt brown. (I was listening to MSTRKRFT on my
new Shure SCL-5s while this happened. I got the idea to make the mix from this encounter. I hope your heart races like mine did. -kb)
